I NEED A LEOPARD GECKO COLOR MORPH GURU!
I recently purchased a Blazing Blizzard female juvenile leo from Reptiles by Mack (which I no longer work for), and she doesn’t really look like a blazing blizzard…………I mean, she kinda does, but what’s throwing me off is the bright pink undertones (still from being juvenile) and super bright red eyes, which isn’t really a characteristic of Blazing Blizzard leos………At least I think so :/
Color morph guru, could it be possible that a Blazing Blizzard producing group could also produce a Snow Diablo Blanco?
It just seems that mine is getting too picky of an eater. I’ve been struggling with mixtures and different flavors/brands of food, and I haven’t really seen him eat a whole ton of anything.
He seems to like a mixture of Pangea Watermelon and Repashy to a certain ratio. I’ve only successfully done it once, and I wish I had jotted down how many tablespoons of each!
So for this next batch of food, I’m trying a 2:1 mixture of Pangea:Repashy.
Lets hope this works out!
In other news, he absolutely adores his cricket paste/CGD mixture lol. Seeing as how the little puss won’t eat crickets or any other insect live. BUT, he’s pooping and shedding, and that’s what matters. Kinda.
I just see everyone with their chubby adult sized cresties that are like…………..8-9 months old, and I’m sitting here with y 7 month old who barely weighs 4.5 grams like………….wtf am I doing wrong. His temp is always at the right zones for both daytime and nighttime, his tank isn’t CRAMPED. Its not massive, but for a little 4.5 gram crestie do you honestly even NEED a 10 gallon vertical tank or tote? No. His humidity is always above 60 percent, I mist almost twice a day every day (Work keeps me super busy!), he’s never out of food, and I’ve been getting better at actually regulating his day/night cycle.
HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
(Insults on my reptilian knowledge will be met with angry insults back. I know how to take care of him, and I’m doing everything how I was taught. Insults will be ignored. I’m asking for advice, not for some dickweed to insult my knowledge. Even the best need a little help now and again. Also, not saying I’m the best :V )
Honestly I’m not an expert, I just go off what I have learned from my two little shits. But from what I’ve seen with cresties, they’re not going to starve themselves. Which means I would personally stop stressing and spoiling (sorry) the little guy with exact mixtures and would instead make a batch of straight Peagea or Repashy, and stick to that for like a month solid. He may pout and not eat for a week or two, but eventually he’ll start eating because the survival instinct will kick in. Obviously working between different consistencies when it comes to water:mix ratio is fine but I wouldn’t do too much behind that personally. Also, keep an eye on if he eats more on the first or second day that you add the food to his home. One of my geckos prefers day old stuff, the other eats the fresh stuff like candy. xD
Your stress reminds me a lot of the posts I’ve read about people who adopt cresties who are addicted to baby food or insect only diets. They tend to struggle to get their crestie on a CGD diet but from what I’ve seen, it does tend to happen if you stick to the CGD and offer the same stuff consistently. You may not see him eat much of anything, but as long as you’re seeing some poop he’s obviously eating. Some cresties just grow really slowly! ;-; My Glitch is about twice the size of my Gizmo and I’m pretty sure they’re nearly the same age and are both pretty good eaters.
Also, as to your tank size. Without seeing it I can’t judge too much but I think you’re probably fine. 4.5 grams is pretty small and my little one that size is doing great in a medium kritter keeper. It makes it more likely that they’ll find their food. As long as he’s got good cover, you’re doing great. Just my two cents. I’m sorry the little shit is giving you so much trouble!
Thanks for the advice!
His tank is also a medium critter keeper with tons of cover. I’ve had debates from both sides of the argument since i’ve gotten it, but he seems to be ridiculously happy in it sooooo lol.
But yeah, the mixture is just what I’ve seen him eat a lot of, so I’m trying to repeat it so he hopefully kicks into a growth spurt.
